Preaching the Gospel since 1830

March 18, 2020

I thought we were watching this thing from afar, but reality has set in for Good Hope Baptist Church. I believe, on a small scale, we are witnessing what will be a reality at the calling away of God’s Saints. We can rest in the Lord and have complete confidence that this is just another indicator of how close we are to the imminent return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! This preview ought to motivate us to earnestly contend for the faith any way we can.

I ask you all to continue to pray for our Church, especially those most vulnerable, for our president and leaders to make the best decisions possible during this time.
Please pray for wisdom in making decisions concerning the church. As much as I hate it, for now we will be canceling our normal services until further notice. I believe this is what we should do for now. The CDC has issued a declaration that public gatherings of 10 or more as a guideline and the president has asked for that. Since this is a serious health crisis, at least to some, and since the Bible is clear as to our obedience to authority, I would suggest that Good Hope comply explicitly.

2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 (16) Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, (17) Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.

God Bless Good Hope Baptist Church and all those who worship with us.
